Written by Doug
Thursday, 12 April 2007
The Easter April sunshine brought with it a relaxed atmosphere as Hearts supporters could begin to look ahead instead of over their shoulders in the SPL table. A week ago life could not have been more different as we approached the Edinburgh derby with absolute trepidation. The week previously I had been brave (or foolish) enough to endure 90 minutes of a demoralising defeat to Dundee United, the worst home defeat I had witnessed as a Hearts supporter since the 5-2 mauling versus Partick 11 years previously, whilst a day later our beloved neighbours won their first major trophy in 16 years with considerable ease, it was all to much to bear…

Anybody expecting a classic game of football yesterday should have descended on the pubs early doors when Liverpool finally put one over on Chelsea in the Premiership under Benitez’s stewardship. Hearts fell out the top 2 in the league for the first time in living memory (just about) as they were held to a 1-1 draw with Falkirk.
